Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5 is a multimedia authoring environment for creating animations, video, interactive applications, and other rich media content for the web, mobile devices, or the desktop.

Flash's animation tools allow users to define and control individual animation attributes, object animation paths, and object motions. The software also includes ready-to-use preset animations and allows users to preserve and share their own preset animations to save time.

Drawing tools similar to those in Illustrator allow users to draw and manipulate vector illustrations and shapes. 3D translation and rotation tools allow users to edit 2D objects through 3D space to animate along the x, y, and z axes.

The Flash authoring environment allows developers to code with the ActionScript 3.0 scripting language. The software includes an ActionScript debugger for testing content, Script Assist for editing scripts in a visual user interface, and a tool for converting animations into ActionScript 3.0 code.

Flash content can be delivered via Flash Player as embedded content, streaming content, or progressive download. Flash content can also be delivered as a cross-platform desktop application through built-in Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR) publishing tools.
