Microsoft expands eligibility for faith-based organizations and hospices

We have a very exciting announcement - Microsoft has expanded the eligibility for their popular software donations program to include faith-based organizations and hospices that were previously ineligible! This has been something we have been working towards for many years so we are very happy to be expanding Microsoft eligibility to these groups.

This means many organizations will be able to request donations of software such as Microsoft Office , Windows operating systems, Windows Server software, and more. These organizations are also eligible for Microsoft’s new program, Office 365 for Nonprofits.

Is my organization now eligible for Microsoft?

You will now be eligible for Microsoft if you qualify for the donations program (you are a registered Canadian charity or nonprofit) and you fall into one of these two groups:

  • Faith-based or religious organizations.
This includes religious groups and places of worship such as churches, synagogues, mosques and temples, as well as religious orders, missionary groups, faith-based children’s camps, faith-informed women’s health care centres and other religious charities and nonprofits.
  • Hospice societies (hospices that are separate from a hospital)

Note: educational insitutions that provide accredited diplomas (such as religious private schools and separate schools) remain ineligible for Microsoft's donations program; instead, please visit Microsoft's Programs for Education.

Note: healthcare organizations such as hospitals remain ineligible for Microsoft’s donation program; instead, please visit Microsoft’s Programs for Health Organizations.

If you are now eligible, your eligibility status for Microsoft will now say “Qualified” and you are able to request Microsoft donations. To check your eligibility status, log in and click “My Organization”.

Please refer to Microsoft’s Program Guidelines for more comprehensive information on Microsoft’s eligibility criteria.

My organization is now eligible - what do I need to know about the Microsoft program?

The Two-Year Cycle
The allotment of products your organization can receive resets every two years. Your organization’s cycle starts when you make your first donation request and resets two years from that first request.

In each two-year cycle you can:

  • Request licenses from up to 10 of over 70 available Microsoft title groups.
  • Request up to 50 licenses per Microsoft title group.
  • Request up to 5 server products, regardless of server title group.

I think my organization would be eligible, but we’re not registered with TechSoup Canada - how do we get Microsoft donations?

Fun fact!
The first step is to register with TechSoup Canada, which is free and only takes a few minutes. Once we have processed your registration, we will let you know if you qualify for the Microsoft program.

Registering will also give you access to discounts and donations from up to 26 other donor partners, which include popular software such as office productivity suites, graphics design software, accounting packages and security programs.
