Guess what? We have Office 2016

Office SoftwareCollaboration

The newest version of Office is now available as a donation through TechSoup Canada!

Eligible organizations can request the following Office 2016 products for Windows:

And for Mac, the 2016 versions of these products are available:

All Office suites now include OneNote, and the Office suites for Windows include Skype for Business. Note that InfoPath has not been updated to 2016. The last version of InfoPath to be released is the 2013 version. InfoPath 2013 is still available as a donation through TechSoup, and that version is included with Office Professional Plus 2016.

Why Don't the Product Names on TechSoup Canada Include 2016?

The products in our Microsoft donations program don't include version numbers. When you receive a product donation, you can choose to download the current version of the software or the previous version via VLSC. As of today, the 2016 versions of all the Office products listed above are available for download, but you can also choose to download the 2013 version instead.

How do I upgrade if I have an Office 365 subscription?

If you have an Office 365 E3 plan for Nonprofits, you can install the new Office 2016 version on your computers right now. Just remember that upgrading to Office 2016 will remove any Office 2013 software currently installed on your PCs. Follow these step-by-step instructions on how to upgrade to Office 2016 through your Office 365 subscription.

What's New in Office for Windows

Cloud storage: Office applications integrate with OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, and SharePoint, so you can access your files across devices.

Insights: Powered by Bing, this feature brings you contextual information from the web right into your Office experience when using Word, Excel, Outlook, or PowerPoint

Insights feature in PowerPoint

Real-time typing in Word: You can see where others are working and what they are typing as they type it in the Word desktop application. Just save a document to OneDrive for Business and invite your colleagues to join you in a simultaneous authoring session.

Real-time typing feature in Word

Data analysis in Excel: New analysis capabilities are built into Excel, including one-click forecasting, so you can pull, map, analyze and visualize your data faster.

Data loss protection: IT admins can centrally create, manage, and enforce policies for content authoring and document sharing in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. End users will see policy tips or sharing restrictions when the apps detect a potential policy violation.

Hi Pranab,

Sorry for the delayed response! If Yorktown purchased Office 2013 within the last two (2) years, then you can upgrade to Office 2016 for free.

Thank you! I hope you had a great weekend as well.

Matthew Couto, Communications Coordinator

P.S. This Katina's son, Matt! Nice to e-meet you Pranab, I hope to meet you in person one day!

Notice premature

Office 2016 is not available at the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center. Only the Mac version has been released to MVLS. We kept staff on overtime last night waiting for the release (as per your announcement) and pursuant to an email Tech Soup sent us yesterday as we qualify for the new program free under Software Assurance, but is still not on MVLS today and staff there don't know anything about it.

You're right -- Microsoft fixed it!

Thanks for letting us know! We were informed that everything will be A-OK on launch day, but unfortunately the system update took longer than anticipated. We've been assured that everything is in working order as of this time of writing, so feel free to grab your version of Office 2016 anytime you'd like -- it should be on VLSC now :)
